Advertising Summary: The Department of Health Administration at Virginia Commonwealth University is recruiting adjunct faculty to teach HADM 646: Healthcare Organization & Leadership in the fall semester. This course is delivered in-person and explores the challenges of managing and leading health care organizations in the 21st century. This course provides the student with the basic knowledge necessary to benefit from the more detailed and advanced courses in healthcare management and strategy.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver course lectures in person, as needed.
  • Develop course materials, including the syllabus, lectures, assignments, and assessments.
  • Assign and grade coursework, homework, projects, and exams in a timely manner.
  • Hold office hours and respond to students' questions and concerns.
  • Use Canvas to manage course materials, assignments, grades, and communication.
  • Maintain accurate student records and adhere to university policies.
  • Communicate effectively with students and the department.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in health administration, business administration, or closely related disciplines.
  • Teaching experience in graduate-level healthcare management courses.
  • 5+ years of healthcare C-suite/VP executive leadership work experience.
  • Experience working with graduate health administration students on applied, real-world projects in healthcare organizations.
  • Experience building collaborative partnerships with healthcare organizations/professionals to support graduate health administration student experiential learning opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an adjunct faculty member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Health Services Organizational Research, Health Administration, Management/Leadership, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching in graduate level healthcare management courses.
  • Demonstrated excellence in mentoring graduate-level health administration students in a CAHME-accredited program.
  • 10+ years of healthcare C-suite/VP executive leadership work experience.
  • Experience with learning management systems.

Salary Range: $8,134.98/3-credit course
