Mission of Goal of Unit: The Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) is seeking a pediatric hematologist/oncologist. Children’s Hospital of Richmond of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System has committed itself to transforming the division into a model academic unit devoted to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and clinical, translational, and basic research.

Chief Purpose of this Position in Support of Above Mission or Goal: The Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a full time academic faculty to join the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology position supports the division’s continuity of care for both new and established patients. The division, integrated within the NCI‑designated Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center, offers robust clinical and academic opportunities, including a Pediatric Hematology‑Oncology fellowship with support for a fourth training year.

Responsibilities: 

  • Teaching: Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. Faculty member will provide teaching and mentorship to medical students, residents, and Fellows when applicable.
  • Research: Faculty member will have working knowledge in basic research methods and be able to participate in clinical, translational, and outcomes research that division may play an active role in pursuing.
  • Service: Faculty member will serve on departmental, hospital, or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, as well as professional activities through journal review, conference presentations, etc.
  • Clinical: Faculty member will serve as a physician for the Department of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Hematology Oncology including all patient populations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • All candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in Virginia
  • Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience in an academic medical center is not required but preferred. Academic rank will be commensurate with previous experience and expertise.
