Department Summary: 

The mission the Department of Urology is the pursuit of excellence in all three areas of an academic surgical practice: teaching, research, and patient care. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Department of Urology is recruiting an open rank, term, non-tenured track faculty position with a practice focused on general urology. The candidate will primarily provide clinical services at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital Campus located in Richmond, Virginia or its satellite affiliates. Services will include clinic, operative services, inpatient and consult management, teaching of residents, and call coverage.

Teaching: The faculty member is expected to teach students and residents during the performance of daily clinical services. Formal teaching is required and includes the performance and/or oversight of resident didactics or grand rounds 1-2 times per year and in-person or virtual attendance of at least 60% of didactics and grand round sessions.

Research: The faculty member is expected to participate in clinical trials or other research endeavors as available.


Service: The faculty member is expected to serve on departmental and/or health system committees as necessary and to attend required faculty meetings.

Clinical: The faculty member is expected to build and maintain a busy, patient centered clinical practice. This includes both inpatient and outpatient management of general urologic conditions including the provision of operative services.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from an ACGME accredited urology residency training program
  • Board Certification or Eligibility in Urology
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level
  • Experience or interest in quality improvement
  • Experience or interest in medical education

Salary Range: Commensurate
