Duties & Responsibilities:

The Part-Time Faculty Practice Nurse Practitioner (NP) will support the clinical, educational, and community engagement activities of the VCU Mobile Health and Wellness Program (MHWP). This position is designed to provide flexible faculty coverage during summer months and identified scheduling gaps while maintaining continuity of care and student learning experiences across MHWP clinical sites. The NP will function as part of the MHWP faculty practice team, providing direct patient care, student supervision, clinical documentation, and on-site support for community participants in underserved urban and rural settings. This role supports the mission of MHWP by integrating community-based care delivery, interprofessional education, and evidence-based practice within a faculty practice model focused on improving access and health outcomes for medically underserved populations.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care within MHWP community-based clinical settings
  • Support continuity of care for MHWP participants across urban and rural underserved communities
  • Supervise and support undergraduate and graduate nursing students during clinical learning experiences
  • Serve as on-site faculty support for student interdisciplinary clinical activities and patient care coordination
  • Complete clinical documentation, visit notes, and follow-up activities within the electronic health record
  • Assist with remote patient monitoring and telehealth workflows as needed
  • Collaborate with MHWP faculty, staff, and community partners to support program operations and patient engagement
  • Promote evidence-based, age-friendly, and person-centered care practices
  • Participate in team meetings, quality improvement activities, and program evaluation efforts as appropriate
  • Maintain compliance with organizational, regulatory, and clinical requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensed or license-eligible as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (MSN, DNP, or equivalent)
  • National board certification as a Nurse Practitioner in an appropriate population focus
  • Clinical experience in primary care, community health, family practice, geriatrics, or population health
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within interprofessional teams
  • Experience using electronic health records and completing clinical documentation
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to community-engaged care and student learning
  • This position is fully on-site and requires on-site presence
  • Must have dependable and reliable transportation to fulfill job responsibilities
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous faculty practice, clinical teaching, or precepting experience
  • Experience working in community-based, mobile health, rural health, or underserved care settings
  • Experience with telehealth, remote patient monitoring, or digital health technologies
  • Familiarity with interprofessional education and collaborative practice models
  • Experience working with older adults and/or individuals with chronic conditions
  • DNP degree or demonstrated interest in practice innovation, quality improvement, or community-engaged scholarship

FLSA Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Hours per Week: 4 to 29 hours a week
