The Dean's Office of the College of Engineering seeks candidates to apply for the Operations Assistant position.

Since its inception in 1996, the Virginia Commonwealth University College of Engineering has brought innovative, real-world engineering education to Central Virginia. Comprised of five different departments plus the Dean’s office, the College of Engineering enrolls more than 2,000 undergraduate and 450 graduate students in several degree programs supported by more than 600 full-time, part-time, and student employees. The Operations Assistant will provide administrative and operational support to the Operations Management team, ensuring the efficient day-to-day functioning of the office and facility.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, process, and distribute daily package deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate records and perform data entry tasks.
  • Prepare and send correspondence, including emails and address-related communications.
  • Provide excellent customer service by answering incoming calls, directing inquiries, and taking detailed messages.
  • Assist with general administrative and office support duties as needed.
  • Support the planning, setup, and execution of company events and meetings.
  • Assist with organizing office spaces, supplies, and operational materials.
  • Help move furniture, equipment, and other items as required for office and event setup.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional work environments.
  • Perform additional operational and administrative duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and data entry.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to perform light to moderate physical tasks, including lifting, moving, and setting up furniture or equipment when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets

 

Salary Range: $16 - $18 per hour
