The Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering in the College of Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University, seek candidates to apply for the Adjunct position. Since its inception in 1996, the Virginia Commonwealth University College of Engineering has brought innovative, real-world engineering education to Central Virginia. Comprised of five different departments plus the Dean’s office, the College of Engineering enrolls more than 2,000 undergraduate and 450 graduate students in several degree programs supported by more than 600 full-time, part-time, and student employees. ​Position Responsibilities:

The successful candidate for the position will develop curriculum and lectures for graduate students for a course that would be delivered over an 8-week period focused on teaching Engineering Finance. These lectures will be part of the Engineering management curriculum. This position is intended to be completed in approximately two months. 

 

Required Qualifications:

- PhD in Economics, Finance, with an undergraduate in Engineering as a minimum
- Extensive knowledge of finances for startups, loans, or management budgets for projects
- High-level organizational skills, attention to detail, and computer proficiency in required programs
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills in both written and oral form
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on assigned projects
- Demonstrated experience teaching and working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an adjunct at VCU

Preferred Qualifications: 

- Ph.D. degree in Engineering Management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
