Department Summary: Established in 1983, the Virginia Commonwealth University RRTC provides resources for professionals, individuals with disabilities, and their representatives. Our team of nationally and internationally renowned researchers is committed to developing and advancing evidence-based practices to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Training and Technical Assistance Associate plays a vital role in supporting regional consortium initiatives at VCU's Rehabilitation Research Training Center (RRTC). This position ensures the timely and effective delivery of high-priority goals and deliverables for the Regional Autism & Behavior Technical Assistance Network (RABTAN). The Training and Technical Assistance Associate will quickly take ownership of complex assignments, drive critical project outcomes, and maintain seamless continuity of training and technical assistance activities across the network.

At the direction of the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and local school division leadership, the position will
provide expert consultation and technical assistance for classrooms of students exhibiting significant and complex behavioral challenges.

The Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will deliver targeted, on-site and virtual support to school teams, ensuring timely responses to a growing volume of consultation requests. This role is critical for stabilizing student behavior, improving learning conditions, and supporting divisions that currently lack sufficient internal behavioral expertise.

Collaborate with a variety of school personnel to strengthen and sustain intensive support classrooms.

Guide the implementation of evidence-based behavioral and instructional practices, build staff capacity, and promote consistency of high-quality services across the region.

Maintain excellent communication with supervisor, co-workers, and external staff through written and verbal communication; complete documentation of time for data collecting and reporting, respond to requests for information on time through electronic communication and other means.

Complete additional projects as assigned to support the Regional Autism & Behavior Technical Assistance Network's scope of work.

Minimum Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Behavior Analysis, or related field.

Current National Board Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and applicable state licensure as a Behavior Analyst, both in good standing.

Extensive knowledge of evidence-based practices used with children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related developmental disabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in teaching in public schools and as a behavior specialist in public schools.

Prior experience delivering technical assistance in public school settings.

Salary Range: $35,000
