Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide specialized cardiovascular imaging interpretation of conventional radiography, chest CT, HRCT, CTA, lung cancer screening, in addition to cardiac CTA and cardiovascular MR in an 865-bed VCU Medical Center with a six-bay Level 1 Trauma Center suite and referral center. Services are also provided by the Section for the Massey Cancer Center, Pauley Heart Center, Interstitial Lung Disease Institute, pre- and post-operative lung and heart transplantation care. This full-time cardiothoracic position will train medical students, residents and fellows within the large, highly productive academic radiology department.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Teaching – Provide training to medical students, residents and fellows, who rotate through the Department of Radiology.
  • Clinical – Provide high quality, sub-specialized imaging interpretations for assigned modalities in support of the referring physicians and patients of VCUHS. Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of pulmonologists, cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and other healthcare providers to provide accurate and timely diagnoses. 
  • Scholarly Activities - Faculty are encouraged to participate in activities related to national societies and organizations to maintain clinical excellence.
  • Service – Time and effort is expected to be devoted to academic service-related activities. This shall include college, school, and departmental committee work, professional growth, and other such assignments.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • ABR certification or documentation of passing the Core Component of the ABR Board examination
  • Be fellowship trained in Cardiothoracic Radiology and have an interest in teaching and research
  • Candidates must be eligible for a Virginia medical license; must be eligible for permanent employment in the USA
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
