Duties & Responsibilities:

The research assistant on the “Birth in Color” study will assist the PI team with participant recruitment, enrollment, tracking, data collection, and verification of data in the database. The RA will assist the PI team in managing/ supporting the implementation of the study interventions in the community. The RA will also assist the team in areas such as communications (e.g., website presence, coordinating with community partners, communicating with community organizations and clinicians, etc.) and regulatory issues (reports to the IRB, funders etc.). The RA will assist the research team with preparation of knowledge dissemination products (e.g., manuscripts, presentations) and other similar duties as assigned.

The Research Assistant will support the implementation of the Birth in Color study and work closely with the Principal Investigator and research team. Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, retention, and tracking activities.
  • Conduct data collection, data entry, data verification, and database management tasks.
  • Support the implementation and delivery of community-based study interventions.
  • Coordinate communication with study participants, community partners, healthcare providers, and community organizations.
  • Assist with project communications, including website updates, outreach materials, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Support regulatory and administrative activities, including preparation of reports for the Institutional Review Board (IRB), funders, and other project-related documentation.
  • Assist with qualitative and quantitative research activities as needed.
  • Contribute to the preparation of dissemination products, including presentations, reports, manuscripts, and community-facing materials.
  • Participate in research team meetings and project planning activities.
  • Perform other research-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience conducting research, program evaluation, community-based work, or related activities.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Experience with data collection, data entry, and maintaining accurate records.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and web-based communication platforms.

  • Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with various populations and community stakeholders.

  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally to community sites, as needed.

  • Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends to support community-based research activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, public health, social work, sociology, nursing, health sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Salary Range: $20/hr
