Department Summary: VCU’s Office of the University Registrar (OUR) is actively searching for a Registrar Services Assistant. The Registrar Services Assistant is a part-time, hourly position that provides general support to the Registrar Services Coordinator and helps ensure smooth daily operations in the Office of the University Registrar. This position assists with a variety of tasks related to student records, registration, transcripts and enrollment services.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Serving as an initial point of contact for customers such as students, faculty, and staff by answering phones and responding to department emails
In-person customer service including greeting and assisting walk-in visitors to the Office of the University Registrar
Scanning and filing documents in using the appropriate record systems.
Ensure information is handled in a confidential and professional manner in line with university policies and FERPA regulations.
Other administrative duties as assigned duties. The assistant will also help ensure information is handled in a confidential and professional manner in line with university policies and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations.
Work days/hours:
Availability required Monday – Friday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, based on departmental needs
This is fully in-person role with no flexibility for remote work.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong communication and customer service skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) or Google Workspace
Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail
Ability to handle large volumes of calls in a friendly and professional manner
Ability to organize and prioritize workload efficiently and in a timely manner, in order to complete job responsibilities
Dependable, punctual, and capable of working independently or as part of a team
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a higher education or administrative office setting
Familiarity with student information systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft, etc.)
Salary Range: $13.77
