Department: Office of the Univ Registrar

Department Summary: VCU’s Office of the University Registrar (OUR) is actively searching for a Registrar Services Assistant. The Registrar Services Assistant is a part-time, hourly position that provides general support to the Registrar Services Coordinator and helps ensure smooth daily operations in the Office of the University Registrar. This position assists with a variety of tasks related to student records, registration, transcripts and enrollment services.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serving as an initial point of contact for customers such as students, faculty, and staff by answering phones and responding to department emails

  • In-person customer service including greeting and assisting walk-in visitors to the Office of the University Registrar

  • Scanning and filing documents in using the appropriate record systems. 

  • Ensure information is handled in a confidential and professional manner in line with university policies and FERPA regulations. 

  • Other administrative duties as assigned duties.  The assistant will also help ensure information is handled in a confidential and professional manner in line with university policies and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations. 

 

Work days/hours:

  • Availability required Monday – Friday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, based on departmental needs

  • This is fully in-person role with no flexibility for remote work. 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) or Google Workspace

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail

  • Ability to handle large volumes of calls in a friendly and professional manner

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload efficiently and in a timely manner, in order to complete job responsibilities

  • Dependable, punctual, and capable of working independently or as part of a team

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment

  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a higher education or administrative office setting

  • Familiarity with student information systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft, etc.)

Salary Range: $13.77
