Department: Pediatric Emergency Department - School of Medicine

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care for pediatric Emergency Medicine patients
  • Supervise and teach Emergency Medicine residents, pediatric residents and medical students
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and department committees
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
  • Participate in department meetings and educational conferences
  • Assist with trauma resuscitations and critical care stabilization
  • Provide consultation to other departments as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree from accredited institution
  • Board certification in Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine
  • Current Virginia medical license or ability to obtain
  • Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification
  • Completion of accredited Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine residency
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an employee at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine
  • Previous academic medical center experience
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Research experience or publications
  • Teaching experience with residents and medical students
