VCU Parking and Transportation Services is seeking to hire a Parking Facility Operations Supervisor to join our team!

The Parking Facility Operations Supervisor position is responsible for overseeing and leading the operations of the Parking & Transportation Operations Center. In conjunction with its co-supervisor, the position oversees a team of Facility Operations Controllers who control access to VCU’s 14 parking garages and 83 entrance and exit lanes. In addition the position monitors for any safety issues using VCU’s 650+ security cameras, answers customers who call in from the gates to assist with entry or exit, and enforces VCU’s parking guidelines when applicable. The position also monitors our PARCs (Parking, Access, & Revenue Control) system for any issues with permit access and investigates any issues.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Performance Management

  • Expectations are clear, well communicated, and relate to the goals and objectives of the department or unit. Staff receive frequent, constructive feedback
  • Staff is trained and have the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish goals
  • Meets the requirements of the performance management system, ensuring employees complete trainings on-time and annual reviews are done on-time

Facilities Safety Management

  • Ensures that FOC’s actively observe camera systems & facility PARCs equipment for assistance, control, or safety hazards. Reports or dispatches personnel to any area in all assigned facilities
  • Report and follow-up on reported suspicious situations to Parking Operations Manager or designee, providing a detailed report/information
  • Ensures all other duties are completed in accordance with current operational plan
  • Main POC for Parking Operations Managers, VCU Police, VCUHS Security
  • Responds to facilities within the parking system to make minor repairs and/or reset PARCs equipment when necessary

Operational Management

  • Trains newly hired FOCs in accordance with policy and procedures
  • Ensures FOCs have a uniform interpretation of parking regulations
  • Ensures traffic and all operational needs are met in accordance with all policies and procedures
  • Ensures direction, communication, and support with all requests from all units of P&T
  • Performs all duties assigned by Supervisor(s) in a timely manner
  • Ensures FOCs reset counts daily, consolidates, and report vacancy counts, report operational or traffic issues as required
  • Ensures issues with counts are reported to Parking Operations Manager or designee in a timely manner

Investigations

  • Investigates any instances of tailgating or other instances of subscribers attempting to circumvent the parking system. Forwards findings on to Supervisor
  • Ensures FOCs carry out investigations, reviews their findings, and forwards on to supervisor
  • Review T2 system for any issues that occur within that system related to gate access, screenshot issues, forward to appropriate leadership

Other Duties

  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Parking & Transportation senior leadership

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required
  • Possess excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrates good written & verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to quickly and effectively adapt to changing situations
  • Advanced computer and time management skills required
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends, holidays, and shift work
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Prior experience working in a university and/or parking & transportation environment
  • Prior experience with T2 Systems PARCs equipment or other like solution

Salary Range: $50,000
