Duties & Responsibilities:

The Student Worker will assist the Department of Surgery's Education Division with administrative, clerical, and project-based tasks related to surgical education programs. This includes support for residency programs, fellowships, and undergraduate medical education. The position offers a valuable opportunity to gain experience in medical education administration in an academic health system.

  • Provide administrative support for educational activities related to surgical residency, fellowship, and medical student programs.
  • Assist in the scheduling and coordination of educational conferences, meetings, and events.
  • Help maintain records and databases, including evaluations, attendance, rotation schedules, and pagers.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes for incoming and outgoing learners.
  • Assist in tracking compliance with institutional and program-specific requirements.
  • Update and organize digital content and files in learning management systems (e.g., LEO, New Innovations)
  • Provide logistical support for interviews, orientations, didactic sessions, and exams.
  • Communicate professionally with residents, fellows, faculty, and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the education team.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current student at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) or affiliated institution.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in healthcare, education administration, or academic medicine.
  • Familiarity with educational platforms such as LEO, New Innovations, or Canvas.
  • Prior administrative or office experience.

Salary Range: $ 12.50/Hour

FLSA Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
