MISSION OR GOAL OF UNIT:  The mission of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is to advance the science through research and the training. The Division provides faculty with specialized clinical and research environments to foster professional growth and provide exceptional care for the community, while maintaining a steadfast commitment to diversity among our staff and student body.

CHIEF PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION IN SUPPORT OF ABOVE MISSION OR GOAL: This position is a PRN collateral, non-tenure track faculty position dedicated to assist with hand and upper extremity trauma call and subsequent care of patients from call.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Teaching:  Provide expert oversight for residents, fellows, and medical students in hand surgery while on call and in the operating room as needed.

2. Research:  Support clinical or translational research projects focused on evidence-based outcomes in hand and wrist surgery. Mentoring students in investigating patient-centered recovery and innovative surgical techniques and support departmental quality improvement initiatives.

3. Service:  Provide hand trauma call coverage as needed.

4. Clinical:  Provide hand trauma call coverage as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
  • Commitment to Resident Education and teaching
  • Commitment to Clinical Research and Innovation
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidate with fellowship experience in hand and microsurgery.
