Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University seeks a BE/BC, General / Comprehensive Otolaryngologist / Head and Neck Surgeon to join a robust and growing academic practice. We are seeking  applicants that will contribute to our continued growth in state-of-the-art patient care, academic achievement, and resident training. 

Mission or Goal of Unit: VCU Health and the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery provides the full range of otolaryngology and head and neck surgery services and recognize everything we do affects patients in a profound way. It is a privilege to treat patients from all walks of life who put their faith in us to restore critical functions related to hearing, speech, swallowing, airway, smell and taste.

Position Responsibilities: 

Clinical: This is the area of primary focus as a clinical faculty MD. Faculty member will demonstrate excellence in provision of care and treatment of patients within the discipline. Faculty member will demonstrate responsibility toward growth of individual clinical practice and referral base. Faculty will participate in multi-disciplinary clinical endeavors. 

Teaching: Faculty member will participate in the teaching of residents, medical students and other students & observers. Provide CME lectures for professionals. Average faculty effort. 

Service: Faculty member will serve on departmental, Health System and/or University committees as needed. Service in a professional capacity in their field in such areas of reviewer, external committee member, conference organizer, etc. are encouraged.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Board certified/eligible in otolaryngology
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Virginia upon hire
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
