Mission or goal of unit: 

The mission of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is to strengthen the health of our community by providing accessible, high-quality digestive care, fostering strong partnerships with local providers, and supporting patients through every stage of diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management.

Chief Purpose of this Position: 

VCU Health is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Luminal Gastroenterologists to join our expanding team at a new state-of-the-art outpatient pavilion located in Chesterfield County, VA. This premier facility will include an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) and a Medical Office Building (MOB) designed to deliver patient-centered, comprehensive outpatient services to the Chesterfield community and surrounding regions. This facility will open in 2027.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • 2 days clinic and 2 days procedures weekly with 1 administrative day at the Chesterfield County ambulatory surgical center (ASC) and Medical Office Building (MOB)
  • 8-10 weeks of inpatient call at Downtown VCU Medical Center campus per year with fellows and residents
  • Optional participation in case conferences with fellows

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Board certified or board eligible in gastroenterology from an accredited training program
  • Virginia licensure or ability to obtain
  • General gastroenterology position
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty at VCU
