The Interior Design Department at Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) is inviting applications for a pool of qualified adjunct faculty for Fall 2026. We welcome applications from creative, committed educators who are interested in contributing to our dynamic and globally engaged academic community.

Adjunct faculty may be considered to teach undergraduate courses in one or more areas of the Interior Design program, depending on departmental needs. This pool will be reviewed as opportunities arise, and candidates whose qualifications align with specific course offerings will be contacted for an interview.

Required Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in interior design or allied disciplines; i.e., architecture or a BFA combined with significant professional training and/or experience.
  • Appropriate teaching experience or strong oral presentation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills suitable for studio‑based teaching environments.
  • Eligibility to work in Qatar or meet specific immigration/employment requirements under Qatari law.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching studio courses in Qatar or the Middle East region.
  • Experience in professional practice in interior design (studio management, business practices) alongside teaching.
  • Experience or interest in working in a multicultural, multilingual academic environment (particularly relevant to Education City / Qatar context).
