Duties & Responsibilities:

VCU’s Office of the University Registrar is searching for a Degree Audit Coordinator. Reporting to the Assistant Registrar for Degree Audit in the Office of the University Registrar, the Degree Audit Coordinator works as a member of a team to maintain the degree audit system for VCU, which enables students to understand where they are in their educational career and what courses are contributing to their degree. 

 

Core Responsibilities: 

Maintenance of Degree Works and Banner SIS through Scribe coding language and systems setting tables (45%)

  • Create and update Scribe coding based on published/approved program curriculum requirements and end-user feedback. 
  • Maintain Degree Works system tables in SureCode related to course and program information, system settings, and user security assignments. 
  • Create and maintain internal and institutional forms and spreadsheets (with associated security) through Google Drive System. 

Graduation Processing, Edits and Student Matriculation Maintenance (40%)

  • Process graduation applications, to include calculating honors, posting degrees, and coordinating diploma distribution. 
  • Enter authorized student substitutions, waivers, attributes, or changes to student program information (major, minor, catalog, etc.) in Degree Works or Banner SIS in a timely manner. 
  • Identify students who have successfully completed requirements for a degree at VCU by using knowledge of graduation policies and procedures, in order to provide the credentials that are the evidence of the degree posted to the transcript.

Reporting (10%)

  • Assist with development and maintenance of edits and reports, via SAS EG or Transit applications, that address data accuracy or provide detailed student information to curriculum committees or departmental end-users. 

Training Material and Procedural Documentation (5%)

  • Assist with development, maintenance & communication of ongoing training material for faculty & professional advisers and students as well as generating internal procedural documentation. 
  • Be available to provide individual or group training to any institutional users for Degree Works application and its supporting processes as needed. 

Other Position Details:

  • This position is eligible for  a flexible work arrangement with up to 60% remote work.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, information systems, mathematics, statistics or related field and/or equivalent experience or training
  • Strong analytical and rational deduction abilities. 
  • Ability to attend to details with minimal errors and supervision. 
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with a student information system and/or degree audit product, e.g., Banner, CAPP, Degree Works. 
  • Experience with SQL, SAS, or other programming languages.

Salary Range: Up to $40,000
