Duties & Responsibilities:

VCU Health's Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill, VA, is seeking a general cardiologist to join our cardiac team! The candidate will be an experienced general cardiologist seeking a practice that will allow them to use the full spectrum of their clinical skills to serve the approximately 90,000 residents residing in the primary service area (Virginia's Mecklenburg, Lunenburg, and Brunswick Counties), as well as a secondary service area extending into North Carolina. VCU Health's Pauley Heart Center is one of the preeminent heart centers in the U.S., and the successful candidate will join a team dedicated to both academic discovery and outstanding clinical care for its patients.

This position presents a cardiologist with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on local communities, while also leveraging the myriad resources available within an academic health system that is, VCU Health, based in Richmond, Virginia. South Hill is located about 80 miles south-west of Richmond, and in 2014, the towns long standing Community Memorial Hospital (CMH) merged with VCU Health. In 2017, VCU Health CMH moved into a brand-new replacement facility with 70 patient beds and an adjacent long-term care facility with an additional 140 beds. The Pauley Heart Center at VCU Health CMH provides the most advanced cardiac care in the region.

Responsibilities include:

  • Outpatient, inpatient, and consultative clinical services
  • Collaboration across hospital departments, including primary care, hospitalists, ED, and imaging
  • Collaboration with other VCU Health cardiology providers to set and implement appropriate standards of practice related to cardiac care
  • Contribute to health system goals at the local level
  • Support clinical research protocols as needed
  • Participate in quality, safety, and efficiency initiatives
  • Participate in teaching medical students, residents, and cardiology fellows.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of clinical care and submission of billing in accordance with organizational policies. Comply fully with all medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Board certified/board eligible cardiologist with demonstrated skills in cardiovascular disease
  • Clinically oriented
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and work with a large multidisciplinary program
  • Must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Virginia
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

 

Salary Range: Commensurate
