Duties & Responsibilities:
The VCU School of Business is seeking talented and enthusiastic applicants for a Business Manager position. This position will join the Finance and Administration (F&A) team and play a critical role in supporting the Graduate Studies team and the Dean’s Office.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Executive Director of Finance & Research Administration, this position will:
Support tuition revenue management of multiple graduate programs and create revenue projections in support of future planning.
Manage purchasing for departmental needs through a variety of modalities, including sourcing and executing vendor contracts spanning multiple programs
Provide fiscal services for faculty, staff, and students including purchasing, travel/reimbursements, and support leadership with budget planning
Complete monthly banner reconciliations for all areas in the unit
Perform timekeeper duties for student and hourly employees, as well as federal work study arrangements, if any
Support the hiring of adjuncts, student workers, and hourly employees through partnership with HR to facilitate the hiring or contracting process; coordinate with the School of Business HR team to ensure accurate and timely processing of faculty and contractor payments.
As a financial transaction expert, collaborate with the finance and administration team to serve as a resource and support to others in the school with fiscal responsibility. This includes creating and maintaining training materials unique to the School of Business, providing engaging one-on-one or small group training, and managing the process of sharing technical updates.
Support the Executive Director of Finance with analysis, including but not limited to available and projected fund balances, restricted funds, and multiple fund source analysis.
Function as an enthusiastic, positive member of the F&A team, with a strong focus on customer service and meeting the needs of stakeholders in order to develop strong working relationships with units internal and external to the School of Business.
Engage in the ARMICS (internal control) process as part of the F&A team.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Experience in an accounting or financial services role with strong customer service skills
Ability to analyze, evaluate and interpret financial data and draw sound conclusions
Experience with Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with a variety of people in different roles and at varying levels of the organization.
Ability to prioritize and manage a variety of projects and to work independently.
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively at a variety of levels.
Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Ability to work successfully as part of a team and a desire to grow and learn within the role.
Preferred Qualifications
Higher education industry experience
Significant experience with Microsoft Excel
More than two years experience in an accounting or financial services role with experience in AP, financial reimbursements, or budget management.
Bachelor’s degree in a business discipline or commensurate experience
Schedule:
Monday-Friday with an opportunity for partial remote work after an introductory period.
Salary Range: $55,000-68,000
