Department: Parking and Transportation

Duties & Responsibilities:

VCU Parking and Transportation Services is seeking to hire a Business Analyst to join our team!

The Business Analyst provides analysis and technical support to the areas of the Parking and Transportation department that utilize the parking and fleet software systems. This position will manage the day-to-day operations of the T2 Flex enterprise system, becoming the "system expert" in its use and will give advice and best practice solutions to Parking and Transportation leadership. This position is responsible for maintaining  operation of the parking software system, ensuring it is ready for sales and day-to-day operations; works to develop and implement best practices and continuous process improvement; designs and develops reports to analyze data for actionable insight and decision making; provides software support to advance departmental unit goals.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Software Subject Matter Expert

  • Identify, plan, implement, and deliver strategies for efficient & effective software operation and resource allocation
  • Work with different P&T units to determine need and facilitate capabilities of software
  • Perceive and communicate decision impacts on and with departmental areas as it relates to T2 software
  • Develop and implement quality assurance and improvement of software functionality
  • Collaborate with IT, Network Services, and T2 Systems (and other parking systems) to ensure functionality
  • Develop and deploy user access levels in P&T Parking system software
  • Maintain and manage data integrity in enterprise software systems

Research and Reporting

  • Develop and design reports to aid in decision making process
  • Automate reports and metrics (as much as reasonable)
  • Collaborate with P&T units to utilize data to improve business practices
  • Analyze data for trends that could impact operations, practices, or revenue
  • Make recommendations based upon identified trends
  • Make recommendations based on requests of unit heads and needs of department

IT Collaboration

  • Work with VCU and vendor IT resources to improve systems co-functionality
  • Collaborate with Applications Analyst and unit heads to support integrations with university and vendor systems

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Executive Director

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enterprise software experience, preferably within higher education or parking industries
  • Database management experience
  • Proficient in SQL
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience
  • Data retrieval and analysis
  • State of Virginia Driver's License
  • Degree in computer science, programming, database management, or related field, or history of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with system management software such as T2, AiMs, Cardinal, or related software preferred
  • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Excel Certification preferred
  • Experience working in Parking and Transportation operations
  • Advanced SQL or other programming language(s)
  • Advanced degree

Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000
