Advertising Summary: We are seeking an adjunct instructor interested in supporting an interactive and experiential course covering the topic of adult occupational performance. OCCT 713 is a 4-credit (2 lecture hour; 4 lab hours) course during the Fall 2026 semester that extends adult evaluation and intervention fundamentals learned in their first year to develop a deeper understanding and synthesis of assessment and practice methods used to support adult occupational performance. The course covers evaluation and intervention content underlying and applicable to all areas of adult occupational performance. It includes specific assessments and practical information on understanding clients with a variety of conditions and therapist skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

This is a fully immersive in-person course taught in our College of Health Professions building, with course content being delivered weekly (full day with lecture hours followed by four lab hours). This course is prepared and led by a faculty member in the Department of Occupational Therapy.

Responsibilities include collaboration of and presentation of course lecture and lab content, use of Canvas as the course learning management system, and grading of all content.

We are seeking clinical experts who practice within and across the adult continuum of care. Modules will cover neurological conditions, cardiopulmonary, the older adult, and neurodegenerative diseases. This position could be extended into the spring semester when our Adults I course is taught.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a closely related field is required.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as an occupational therapist in Virginia
  • Practice and teaching experience in occupational therapy evaluation and intervention in adult rehabilitation settings.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering supportive student learning environment
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an adjunct faculty member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT), Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) or PhD in related field.

Salary Range: $5,000+ (commensurate with experience)
