The Department of Information Systems in the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University is recruiting a pool of applicants on an ongoing basis for adjunct teaching positions. This pool will be accessed only when an opening arises. The department of Information Systems will consult the adjunct applicant pool and contact qualified applicants for interviews on an as- needed basis.

Department: Information Systems

Duties & Responsibilities:

Teach courses in information systems as needed. These classes could be inclusive of all areas within the discipline.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-5 years work experience in information systems or an IT related discipline
  • Strong oral presentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an employee at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters of Science or a Ph.D. in Information Systems or a related field at the time the appointment begins
  • Prior teaching experience
  • Ability to publish refereed articles in scholarly journals.
  • Ability to publish scholarly books.
  • Ability to publish refereed articles related to business education or pedagogy or case studies.
  • Ability to publish books or articles for professionals designed to impact the practice of business or management.
  • Ability to publish student textbooks.
  • Ability to present at professional events.
  • Ability to develop content for continuing education programs.
  • Service on the boards of directors of organizations whose work is related to the mission of the School of Business.
  • Serving in a leadership capacity in a professional association.
  • An ongoing consulting practice requiring a high degree of expertise and experience in the field.
  • Membership in professional organizations.

Salary Range: $4,740 - $8,650 (depending on class size)
