Department: Emergency Medicine - VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care in community mental health settings
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment planning
• Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams
• Supervise residents and medical students in clinical rotations
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical documentation
• Maintain current knowledge of psychiatric best practices and evidence-based treatments
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies

Required Qualifications:

• MD or DO degree from accredited institution
• Completion of psychiatry residency training
• Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry
• Current medical license in Virginia or ability to obtain
• Experience in community mental health or public psychiatry preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an employee at VCU

Preferred Qualifications:
• Fellowship training in relevant subspecialty
• Previous academic medical center experience
• Research experience and publications
• Teaching and supervision experience
• Bilingual capabilities
• Experience with electronic health record systems
• Leadership experience in clinical or administrative roles
