About the Department of Pharmacotherapy & Outcomes Science:

The Department of Pharmacotherapy and Outcomes Science focuses on optimizing medication use and improving patient outcomes through personalized evidence-based approaches. Our department combines expertise in pharmacotherapy, clinical pharmacology, digital health, personalized medicine, and health economics and outcomes research to educate and train the next generation of pharmacists, researchers, and leaders.

Chief Purpose of this position:

This open-rank, tenure-eligible faculty position in Pharmacoepidemiology and Health Outcomes Research will support the professional Pharm.D. and graduate programs at the School of Pharmacy. This position will also make a substantial contribution to the research mission of the School of Pharmacy

Position Responsibilities:

1. Research: The faculty member will have an approximately 75% research effort and be expected to substantially contribute to the research mission of the School of Pharmacy by securing extramural funding, publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts, and conducting collaborative research.

 2. Teaching: The faculty member will have approximately a 15% teaching effort and be expected to contribute to professional (Pharm.D.) and graduate programs.

3. Service: The faculty member will have approximately a 10% service effort and be expected to serve on departmental, School, and/or University Committees, as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their respective field. 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in the following key areas of interest: pharmacoepidemiology and health outcomes research
• Demonstration of or potential for an extramurally funded research program that is consistent with appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor at a research-intensive university
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

Preferred Qualifications:

• Established record of extramural funding (e.g., NIH, AHRQ, PCORI, CDC, foundations, or industry-sponsored research)
• Experience in interdisciplinary research collaborations, particularly with clinicians, data scientists, public health professionals, and/or policymakers
• Experience in academic teaching at the professional and/or graduate level

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
