There are openings at our distance site at our Roanoke, VA and our Abingdon, VA distance site. Proctoring and onsite academic support is needed on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. Department: Nurse Anesthesia

Department Summary: The mission of the Department of Nurse Anesthesia is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to work as part of an inter-professional team to serve the public through the delivery of safe, cost-efficient, quality anesthesia services. We strive to develop leaders and scholars who will advance the specialty of nurse anesthesia through research, scholarship, and public service. We achieve our mission by establishing an environment that promotes excellence, stimulates creativity, and recognizes achievement.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Academic Testing and Support Assistant will be responsible for providing onsite classroom support to faculty, instructors, and students, and will proctor exams and other instructional activities.

Typical Duties:

  • Provide onsite classroom support to faculty, instructors, and students to provide a successful learning experience for students in Nurse Anesthesia distance sites.

  • Proctor exams, tests, and other instructional activities.

  • Serve as a liaison between distance site students and Department Chair, Program Director, and department faculty/staff.

  • Ensure that Nurse Anesthesia department leaders are aware of student statuses and any potential barriers to successful student performance.

  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and VCU policies and regulations.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working with students.

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining a safe and supportive environment in an educational setting.

  • Exposure to classroom management or former classroom technician/assistant experience.

  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an hourly staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education.

  • Experience using Canvas learning management system.

  • Experience with ExamSoft or Testing Center software.

Salary Range: $20/hr+ (commensurate with experience)
